PUSHBACK: Supporters gather for ‘March 4 Trump’ rallies around U.S.

Supporters of President Donald Trump are convening near Trump Tower, the Washington Monument and several other places around the country in marches to show their pride in his presidency.

Saturday’s “March 4 Trump” demonstrations are also intended to show unity in the face of what organizers call “a seditious fringe” aiming to sabotage his vision for the country.

‘Simply false’: Obama spokesman rejects Trump wiretapping claims

A couple hundred supporters gathered in New York near Trump Tower, chanting “U-S-A.” One held a sign reading: “I am not a Democrat anymore.” Another read: “Yes he is our president.”

Also, lefty counterprotesters with rehashed 1970s slogans.

THE LAST DAYS OF DSLR: 2016 Lowest Sales Ever on DSLR and Mirrorless.

This report indicates that prices for SLR will go up, not down, as cameramakers like Canon and Nikon concentrate on the professional market, and stop making products for the shrinking number of consumer and prosumer buyers.

There might not be a better time to buy than this year or next.

WE NEED A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR TO LOOK AT OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ABUSES AIMED AT INFLUENCING THE ELECTION: Trump Goes Nuclear With Claim Obama Wiretapped Him During Election. The seriousness of the charge demands investigation. “If the Obama administration abused the FISA process to wiretap a political opponent, it is a scandal of the first order–the worst political scandal of my lifetime, easily. And the press has known about it and covered it up? Unbelievable.” Oh, it’s pretty believable.

TRUMP’S NOT ACTING LIKE A PUTIN STOOGE, BUT THAT’S NOT WHAT THE NARRATIVE CARES ABOUT: Trump Names Putin Hawk to NSC.

For those genuinely concerned about the Russia threat, Hill is exactly the kind of person one would want in the White House. She has immense credibility as both a Russia scholar and an experienced intelligence official, and she brings an unsentimental understanding of the Kremlin’s inner workings to bear on her role. Hill’s book Mr. Putin: Operative in the Kremlin is easily one of the best studies of Putin’s motivations and machinations at the head of the Russian state.

Between Defense Secretary Mattis, National Security Adviser McMaster, and now Fiona Hill, Trump is stacking his security team with seasoned Russia hawks who are deeply skeptical about Moscow’s intentions. And the White House already seems to be readjusting to the reality that a major reset is not in the cards. According to Senator Bob Corker, who was an early contender to be Trump’s Secretary of State, Trump’s expectations for cooperation with Russia are “hugely diminishing,” and the prospects of a “grand bargain” with Putin seem increasingly faint.

Every new president wants a reset with the Russians. They all learn it’s a pipe dream. Trump’s learned a lot faster than Obama did. In fact, I’m not sure Obama worried about the Russians until Hillary lost.

TALK OF THE TOWN: How Trump is overshadowing China’s biggest political gathering — even though he’s half a world away.

About 5,000 government officials, party bigwigs and company executives are gathering in the Chinese capital to discuss government policy for the year ahead.

Though the meetings are strictly stage managed and most of the discussions and decisions take place behind closed doors, the annual meetings, better known as the “two sessions” in China, give a glimpse into Beijing’s political priorities and economic expectations.

They will be in special focus this year as Beijing adjusts to rising uncertainty from the Trump administration and its policies.

On the sidelines of the first day of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference on Friday, delegates said China was putting some decisions on hold because of the question marks over Trump’s direction.

One area of concern is currency reform.

Yu Yongding, a former member of the central bank’s monetary policy committee and a senior researcher of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said various US issues, including Sino-US ties and Trump were having a big impact on plans to overhaul the China’s foreign exchange rate system. “We must not give Trump an excuse to accuse China of currency manipulation,” Yu said.

It’s widely believed that China keeps their currency weak in order to stimulate exports. But China has spent the last year or two — and untold billions of their foreign reserve dollars — propping up the value of the yuan, in order to avoid a balance-of-payments crisis.

That might be the kind of currency manipulation we can live with.

IT’S GETTING HARDER TO TRUST INSTITUTIONS OR PROFESSIONALISM THESE DAYS: Oregon judge is accused of helping illegal immigrant drunk driver ESCAPE from her courtroom while ICE agents waited outside to deport him to Mexico. “Herranz is now under internal investigation after U.S. Attorney Billy Williams accused the judge of letting Salazar leave through her private entrance after staff realized immigration and customs enforcement agents were waiting for him. Every courtroom in the Multnomah County Circuit Court has three doors – one for the public, a private judge entrance and one for inmates to be brought in from jail. Williams told KOIN the only explanation was that Herranz – who is on the board of the Oregon Hispanic Bar Association – or a member of her staff helped Salazar to leave through another door. ICE agents brought the matter to Williams after the incident allowed Salazar to evade the immigration officials.”

I THINK TRUMP NEEDS TO APPOINT A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR TO INVESTIGATE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS CHARGE. Mark Levin: Was Obama Using NSA Against Trump During 2016 Campaign? LBJ used government resources to spy on opponents. Why should we think Obama wouldn’t?

Plus, from Andy McCarthy:

Instead, the Obama Justice Department decided to pursue the matter as a national-security investigation under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). In June, it sought the FISA court’s permission to conduct surveillance on a number of Trump associates — and perhaps even Trump himself. It has been reported that Trump was “named” in the application, but it is not publicly known whether he (a) was named as a proposed wiretap target, or (b) was just mentioned in passing in the application.

The FISA court found the application so weak that it said no — which it never does — and the Obama Administration came back with a narrower one, which may or may not have mentioned Trump specifically, which was granted, shortly before the election.
