THE 21st CENTURY ISN’T WORKING OUT AS I HAD HOPED: Not a shot! Anti-vax movement prompts Brooklyn hipsters to withhold inoculations from their pets. “Hip youngsters who promote a more holistic lifestyle for their pets tend to be the most vocal anti-vaxxers, Ford said, but rarely have a particular reason for leaving Fido open to infection…A Clinton Hill–based veterinarian, however, said she has heard clients suggest the inoculations could give their pups autism, echoing the argument of those who oppose vaccinating kids.”

Inside every Brooklyn hipster is a General Jack D. Ripper with a fluoride phobia just screaming to be let out.

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): To be fair, Jack D. Ripper isn’t looking quite so crazy these days. . . .

LONGEVITY UPDATE: The Queen of England Enjoys Four Cocktails Every Day. “As the Independent noted, this puts the Queen at six units of alcohol per day, which would technically makes her a binge drinker by government standards, but she’s 91 years old, so who are we to judge?”

Or maybe the “binge drinker” standards are bilge.

HMM: Tesla’s Longtime Battery Technology Director Kelty Departs.

Kelty joined Tesla in 2006, according to his LinkedIn profile, making him one of the longest-serving executives at the automaker led by Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk. He previously worked for more than 14 years with Panasonic Corp., Tesla’s partner in the gigafactory for battery production near Reno, Nevada. At Tesla, Kelty served as lead negotiator with Panasonic for that facility, according to LinkedIn.

Kelty couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

News of Kelty’s exit comes at a critical juncture for Tesla, which turned over the first batch of Model 3 vehicles to employees Friday night. Tesla began producing the more affordable electric car last month and aims to make 20,000 a month by December, a ramp-up rate Musk told employees would put the company through “production hell.”

Not exactly an auspicious time to exit.

THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER: Time for Treasury to sanction Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s rogue IT personnel.

Overnight, it was reported that Awan “frantically” raced to liquidate his U.S. assets and to send the proceeds to Pakistan, where his wife is believed to have also fled. Both he and his wife – who, unlike Awan, is not in captivity and is free to use a computer, presumably – were liquidating properties even on the day of his arrest.

The liquidation involved, but is not limited to, the transfer of nearly $2 million in real estate assets within the family. In at least one of those transactions, a U.S. bank was funding nearly the entire sale.

When it comes to financial matters, there is one man who can stop the transfer of illicit funds to foreign countries: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

So do it, Mr. Secretary.

CIVIL RIGHTS UPDATE: NORTH CAROLINA ENACTS RESTORE CAMPUS FREE SPEECH ACT.

The final version of the Act passed the North Carolina House by a margin of 80 to 31. Ten Democrats, about a quarter of those present, voted for the bill. The final version passed the Senate by a margin of 34 to 11 along strict party lines.

Roy Cooper, the state’s Democratic governor, took no action on the bill. Thus, it has become law.

How can anyone oppose free speech on campus? Plus: “Campus free-speech legislation is now in play as never before. Administrators will have to take that into account when they decide how to handle free speech. In short, the public has awakened and is actively pushing back against the illiberal assault on speech. That is a silver lining in the current crisis.”
