NIFTY: Qualcomm can charge your phone faster than you can read this story.

Quick Charge 4 will provide up to 5 hours of battery life on just a 5-minute charge, said Everett Roach, Qualcomm’s senior director of product management, at the Snapdragon Tech Summit on Wednesday.

“We put a lot of hard work and engineering into new products, and we’re gonna deliver what we hope is a much better charging experience from 2016,” Roach said.

The charging capabilities will also be integrated into Qualcomm’s next generation of mobile processors, including the Snapdragon 835.

I hope Qualcomm has any bugs ironed out of this. Leaning too hard on rapid-charging is believed by some to be the culprit behind Samsung’s “exploding” Galaxy Note 7.

POLITICKING BY UNIVERSITY RESULTS IN IRS COMPLAINT:

The Claremont Independent has learned that a concerned individual has lodged a complaint with the IRS in response to Pomona College’s promotion and funding of an anti-Trump rally.

As the Independent reported this week, Pomona College’s Draper Center for Community Partnerships may have run afoul of federal non-profit regulations by reimbursing transportation costs to and from a rally against Donald Trump in Los Angeles on November 9th. Draper Center staff also promoted the event on Facebook and organized bus transportation for students who wished to attend.

As a 501(c)(3) educational institution, Pomona College is prohibited from engaging in partisan political activity with tax-exempt dollars. If an investigation is launched, it could lead to the revocation of Pomona College’s tax-exempt status, among other possible sanctions.

In a statement to the Independent, the office of Pomona College President David Oxtoby acknowledged the College’s financial commitment to the rallies but stressed that it did not constitute political activity.

Uh huh. See, this is another reason why colleges shouldn’t take sides. And I suspect that there will be a lot more of those marginalized conservative students taking them to task on this.

A QUIET AFTERNOON WITH THE BBC: Bob Tyrrell of the American Spectator baffles the Beeb by referencing that extremist hate group – the Knights of Columbus!

The interview got off to a bad start and became worse. The moderator commenced with: “The first ever black president will be followed by a president who was endorsed by the KKK.” Then I was asked, “Where does that leave you?” My response was what any normal American would say, “I can’t imagine anybody [sic] more marginal to American elections than the KKK.” I went on to say, “every four years the KKK comes up because people like Hillary want to bring the KKK up.” I began to add that the Klan was composed of a few hundred stoneheads living marginal lives in the American outback, until they could be dredged up to serve the Democrats’ malign purpose, but the moderator interrupted me. “So it doesn’t shock you?” I responded why not talk about the influence of the Knights of Columbus?

My interlocutors apparently had no idea what the largest Catholic men’s organization in America might be. The host inquired, was it “another extremist group?”

Almost as dangerous as the Rotary Club.
