AUSTIN BAY: Libyan War Emerges to Haunt 2016 Presidential Campaign. It was an unauthorized war of choice, pushed by Hillary, that has had disastrous results.
Related: Hillary’s National Security Crime Needs a Special Prosecutor. It’s worth noting that Hillary overturned a foreign country’s government with disastrous results, while plotting with Sid Blumenthal to enrich cronies in the aftermath. It’s not just an email scandal.
IF YOU DON’T SUPPORT NUCLEAR POWER, YOU DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING. Nuclear Is the World’s Green Power “Workhorse.”
A generation of nuclear reactors is nearing the end of its intended life cycle around the world, but in a world where decarbonization is becoming increasingly important, nuclear energy still has an important role to play. There’s reason to be excited on that front, because as Laura Scheele writes for the U.S. Department of Energy, researchers are developing safer, smaller, and cheaper nuclear power technologies. . . .
Nuclear power doesn’t get much love from greens, but it’s the most important zero-carbon source of baseload power around. While wind and solar energy struggle with intermittency issues, nuclear plants can supply grids power 24/7, making them an absolutely vital component of any future carbonless energy mix.
But for many people nuclear’s risks overshadow its promise, with high profile accidents like Chernobyl or Three Mile Island, or more recently the Fukushima disaster, occupying a special place in their imagination. Like any energy source (yes, that includes renewables) nuclear power has potential hazards, but those can be mitigated. There’s a raft of exciting, more modern nuclear technologies on the horizon, and it’s clear that the U.S. Department of Energy is excited by their potential. Now, if only environmentalists could open their eyes to nuclear’s imminent possibilities. . . .
Well, they’d have to care about the environment, instead of about damaging western civilization.
SO LAST YEAR I RAISED THE POSSIBILITY OF A TRUMP-WEBB FUSION TICKET, and now there’s this:
It’s not a crazy idea, actually. Webb would bolster Trump’s weak foreign policy/national security credentials, and help pull Democrats away from Hillary, probably without alienating many GOP voters.
WHIPLASH WIENER: “It’s now illegal to buy cigarettes in San Francisco unless you’re at least 21 years old, thanks to a new ordinance approved unanimously by the city’s Board of Supervisors,” as spotted by the Weekly Standard in an article titled “The New Prohibitionists,” which quotes city supervisor and State Senate candidate Scott Wiener, the sponsor of the ordinance, stating that “Our city has a history of taking on major industries in the name of public health.”
Concurrently, the Standard notes:
Legislation, big and small, is also in the works regarding cannabis. California—a trailblazer in medicinal marijuana—has fallen behind Colorado, Washington, and Oregon when it comes to “recreational” marijuana. Loath to miss a trend, California is gearing up for an effort to legalize cannabis outright. San Francisco wants to be prepared to help in the sensible proliferation of quality pot-shops with pleasing signage and has set up a “task force” to help craft weed-friendly zoning rules. Who created the task force? Supervisor Scott Wiener.

WHY SOME MUSLIM VOTERS are betting on Donald Trump.
SYMPTOMS OF FAILED POLITICAL LEADERSHIP ARE EVERYWHERE: ‘Little Trumps Are in Every European Country’. “From the perspective of many anxious op-ed writers in Western Europe, Trump isn’t an anomaly. Instead, he’s part of a dramatic populist surge occurring across Western democracies at the moment, on both the political left and the right.” We created a post-Cold War ruling class, and they totally blew it. This is a consequence.

IT’S QUICKLY TURNING INTO AN IMAGINARY UNIVERSITY: Yale’s Imaginary Crime Wave. “According to the Spangler Report, the Yale campus was a hotbed of violent crime between July and December, with 20 undergraduates and four graduate students reporting that they had been sexually assaulted. For Yale’s female students, these totals alone would suggest an annual violent crime rate (1.4 percent) comparable to that of Oakland, which the FBI listed as the nation’s third most dangerous city in 2014. . . . The report itself answers the question of why President Salovey does not act. A grand total of one Yale undergraduate actually filed a complaint that went to the University-Wide Committee (UWC), the body that adjudicates campus sexual assault questions.”

SCRUTINIZING THE QUEEN IS LESE MAJESTE: Clinton Takes Aim at Another Government Watchdog.
The Hillary Clinton campaign has gone on the attack against the government official who conducts oversight of the State Department she used to run, accusing him of partisanship and misconduct without any direct evidence. That strategy could backfire by politicizing the role of the government’s inspectors general and undermining needed State Department reforms.
This is not the first time Team Clinton has accused a federal inspector general of trying to foil her presidential ambitions. In January, the campaign publicly accused the inspector general of the intelligence community of acting in concert with two Republican senators to leak details of now-classified information found on her private e-mail server. This week, the Clinton campaign set its sights on Steve Linick, who has served as the State Department’s inspector general since 2013.
Linick has never been regarded as a partisan official. President Barack Obama appointed him as the State Department IG and the Senate confirmed him. Before that appointment, the role had remained unfilled for more than 5 years and there was only an “acting” IG at state the entire time Clinton was secretary, a career foreign service officer.
Damaging accountability isn’t a bug, it’s a feature in ClintonWorld. And ObamaWorld.

TEACH WOMEN NOT TO ABUSE: Second daycare worker convicted in ‘baby fight club’ case. “Kierra Spriggs, 26, was convicted of four counts of felony child cruelty and two misdemeanor assault and battery charges on Thursday.”
Remember, male daycare workers are essentially unknown because people fear that they’ll be abusers.

SO MUCH FOR THE NARRATIVE: More women voted Republican than Democratic on Super Tuesday.
Democrats are having a turnout problem in their 2016 primaries. Fewer voters came out to participate in Tuesday’s Democratic primaries than they did in 2008, when Barack Obama was running against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (who is running again now). Conversely, turnout in many states was vastly higher for Republicans than it was in 2008, demonstrating an enthusiasm gap between the parties.
And despite the fact that a larger share of Democratic primary voters are women, more women voted in Republican primaries in many of the Super Tuesday states.
Virginia demonstrated this phenomenon the best, as Republican turnout was up 109 percent compared to 2008, while Democratic turnout was down 14 percent from 2008. This resulted in nearly 482,000 women voting in the Republican primary versus about 444,000 women voting in the Democratic primary.
The same occurred in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. In total, more than 4 million women voted in the Republican primaries on Tuesday, compared to just over 3.2 million voting in the Democratic primaries.
I’m surprised how many — loudly — pro-Trump women I see on Facebook.

I started to wonder if her big donors knew where there money was going, but they probably understand exactly what they’re paying for.

PITT STUDENTS ‘IN TEARS’ AND FEELING ‘UNSAFE’ AFTER MILO YIANNOPOULOS EVENT: “The reactions of students over a non-compulsory and extracurricular event featuring a gay journalist expressing a difference of opinion are a worrying sign that academia is failing. These are students who are legal adults and on the cusp of entering the real world, yet they’re in tears over the fact that someone, who they need not even listen to, disagreed with them….Pittsburgh may be the steel city, but it appears its students are made of softer stuff.”
IT MEANS THAT BAD AS THE GOP DEBATE WAS, THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BIGGER PROBLEMS: What does a former staffer’s immunity deal mean for Hillary Clinton? “Brian Fallon, a spokesman for the presidential campaign, said in a statement that Clinton has been cooperating with the Justice Department and offered in August to meet with officials. He said the campaign was ‘pleased’ that Pagliano, who invoked his Fifth Amendment rights before a congressional panel in September, was cooperating.” Yeah, pretty sure that’s a lie. . . .
Plus: “Immunized witnesses can be critical. Prosecutors offered a generous immunity agreement to the businessman they said bribed former Virginia governor Robert F. McDonnell (R), and the businessman’s testimony at trial was pivotal to demonstrating the corrupt bargain between the two.” In light of all of Hillary’s issues — going beyond the server to the Clinton Foundation’s dirty dealings — it’s pretty clear that the dispositive factor in McDonnell’s case was the (R) after his name, which the WaPo is careful to include.
