DON SURBER:

Never Trump and its Obamanaut friends think we are a bunch of rubes being played for suckas by President Trump because he held a meeting with Al Gore, or someone in his upcoming Cabinet donated to Planned Parenthood, or someone associated with him lobbied sometime somewhere.

Just remember: Never Trump and its Obamanaut friends got the election wrong. They want to plant seeds of doubt. Why listen to those losers? Listen to a real expert, billionaire Conrad Black.

You should also listen to Surber, one of the few who clearly saw the Trump Train coming. Scholars of this election should read his Trump The Press. But probably won’t.

FLASHBACK: This comment by Jerry Pournelle explains why people get so heated up about elections now: “We have always known that eternal vigilance is the price of freedom. It’s worse now, because capture of government is so much more important than it once was. There was a time when there was enough freedom that it hardly mattered which brand of crooks ran government. That has not been true for a long time — not during most of your lifetimes, and for much of mine — and it will probably never be true again.”

Of course, it’s even worse when you’ve been consciously weaponizing the government against your enemies and then lose an election:

BUT THEY PROVIDE US WITH SO MUCH SCHADENFREUDE: Trump and the rage of the Brahmandarins™. [Fixed as people tell me the link doesn’t work.  Which is weird as it shows a link on my side.  Vivaldi is the only browser that lets me do this posting, and it’s truly weird sometimes.]

LOVE TRUMPS HATE. THEY GO LOW, WE GO HIGH. You voted for Trump? No heat for you this winter. “Michael Turner, owner of Turner LP Gas in Skowhegan, Maine, recorded a voice mail greeting that leaves little question as to his feelings for those in his community who supported Trump. ‘Thank you for calling Turner LP gas. If you voted for Donald Trump for president I will no longer be delivering your gas — please find someone else,’ the message states.”

BECKET ADAMS: No, really: Fake news isn’t going anywhere so long as media keep doing stuff like this.

Fake news isn’t going anywhere so long as there’s distrust for legitimate media outlets.

Coupled with the rise of for-profit hoax reporting, and the fact that the press is about as disliked and distrusted as Congress, you’d think newsrooms would start handling thinly sourced and sensational stories with greater care.

But some old habits are hard to break, I guess.

Consider, for example, how newsrooms covered the story of Yasmin Seweid, an 18-year-old Muslim woman who claimed this month that she was harassed and bullied in New York City by three Donald Trump supporters.

Her story appears to be a complete fabrication, according to police officials, but that part didn’t come out until long after media had given her initial tale a lot of uncritical press.

Comrade, we must distinguish between “Bourgeois Truth,” the mundane matter of what actually happened, and “Revolutionary Truth,” which is whatever advances the revolution. “Fake news” is bourgeois truth. “Real news” is revolutionary truth.
