NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON, TRUMP SUPPORTER.
Well, maybe. Who knows? In any case, Tyson’s word salad tweet, “People who are anti-Trump are actually anti-Trump supporters — they oppose free citizens voting for the @realDonaldTrump” is screen-capped.
Meanwhile, Twitchy collates some of its reaction: “Tyson, who previously speculated who Jesus would vote for, either irritated or confused with this particular foray into politics,” particularly his crazed “I love science sexually*” fanboy worshippers.

A CALL TO MOVE THE GOP CONVENTION to Salt Lake City or Virginia Beach.
With concerns growing in GOP circles that Cleveland is too friendly to protest mobs that will try to disrupt the Republican National Convention in July should Donald Trump be the nominee, calls are starting to be made to move the event to a safer city such as Salt Lake City, Utah, or Virginia Beach, Va.
A prominent former Reagan advisor and businessman, for example, has sent a plea to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus warning that riots could spoil the confab and ruin the nominee’s election chances just like the 1968 riots by Vietnam War protesters at the Democratic National Convention helped to doom Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey.
“Riots in Chicago yesterday that shut down a Donald Trump rally confirm our worst fears. Cleveland will be the opportunity for community organizers to combine all their knowledge in an attack on the Republican Party’s national nominating convention,” said Richard J. Bishirjian in a letter to supporters.
On the other hand, reasearch says that violent black protests hurt Democratic turnout.

That was the realm of communists, fascists, socialists, Nazis… progressives. The progressive movement is a branch of the same tree as all those detestable philosophies. The others took deeper root in Europe, but the progressive movement found its home here. Based on division, envy and racism, elevating the concept that an elite – our betters – are the only ones who can pull us back from our own self-destruction, progressivism instills hatred through jealously and lies.”
SO FAR, STAYING OUT OF SIGHT SEEMS TO BE HER BEST STRATEGY: Hillary Clinton takes new tack to boost her image.
Clinton acknowledged during Wednesday’s Democratic debate that she was “not a natural politician” and expanded on the theme in an interview with the SiriusXM radio show “The Mayor” the following day.
“This is harder for me,” she said. “I admire the skills my husband and President Obama have. They’re charismatic and they’re compelling and they’re great orators. I do get up every day and say, ‘What can I do to try make someone’s life better?’”
Few objective observers view such comments as spontaneous moments of candor. Rather, they see them as part of a strategy to warm up perceptions of the Democratic front-runner, who is seen suffering an enthusiasm deficit by comparison with her rival Bernie Sanders.
Genuineness and spontaneity are the most important things to fake.

CHANGE: Michelle Fields, Ben Shapiro Resign From Breitbart.
Fields and Shapiro informed Breitbart News chairman Steve Bannon of their decision Sunday night.
“Today I informed the management at Breitbart News of my immediate resignation,” Fields said in a statement sent to BuzzFeed News. “I do not believe Breitbart News has adequately stood by me during the events of the past week and because of that I believe it is now best for us to part ways.”
In his own statement, Shapiro said the episode was emblematic of how he believes the site’s management had sold out the legacy of its founder and namesake, the late Andrew Breitbart.
I didn’t know Breitbart well enough to hold an informed opinion about Shapiro’s concerns, but this situation is clearly a mess.

GOTTA CONDO — AND A HEART — MADE OF STONE-A. Some things never change:
● WATCH: Hillary Clinton tells woman whose health care costs have skyrocketed to ‘keep shopping.’
—Twitchy, last night.
When told [in 1994, that Hillarycare, the prototype for Obamacare] could bankrupt small businesses, Mrs. Clinton sighed, “I can’t be responsible for every undercapitalized small business in America.” When a woman complained that she didn’t want to get shoved into a plan not of her choosing, the first lady lectured, “It’s time to put the common good, the national interest, ahead of individuals.”
—“Queen Tut?”, the late Tony Snow, July 8, 1999.
Clinton noted that small business creation has “stalled out,” to her chagrin. “I was very surprised to see that when I began to dig into it,” she said while campaigning in New Hampshire. “Because people were telling me this as I traveled around the country the last two years, but I didn’t know what they were saying and it turns out that we are not producing as many small businesses as we use to.”
—As quoted in my post at Ed Driscoll.com a year ago titled, “Sclerotic Out of Touch Upper Class Presidential Candidate ‘Surprised’ Small Businesses are Struggling.”
Whatever his myriad excesses and policy disasters, Bill Clinton could really sell the “I feel your pain” message to Americans in the age of Oprah’s brand of media-friendly sentimentality. Hillary lacks any similar compassion, or what my parents used to call “the common touch.” She really does come across the way the media portrayed Thomas Dewey in ’48, or Mitt Romney in 2012, but colder and more aloof. Or to put it in visual terms:

JED BABBIN: “Obama’s Libya Sh*t Show.”
Since then, Libya has devolved into warring terrorist factions. It has two rival “governments” claiming to rule it. In fact, Libya is now a safe haven for terrorist networks including ISIS, which is probably the fastest-growing and most dangerous to U.S. national security. ISIS controls significant parts of that nation.
On September 10, 2012, one day before the terrorist attacks in Benghazi left four Americans dead, there were at least ten terrorist groups that had active operational terror cells within Benghazi’s city limits, according to a report on the attacks published by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
A little more than two weeks ago, the assessment of our top commander in Africa, Gen. Don Bolduc, was that the spread of ISIS across Libya was so strong that further U.S. military involvement would be essential even if there were to be an agreement between the two rival factions claiming to govern Libya (though neither does).
Obama, of course, denies any responsibility for the massive policy failure after he chose to intervene militarily in behalf of the rebels seeking Qaddafi’s overthrow. This past week he blamed what he called the Libya “sh*t show” on our NATO allies, particularly British PM David Cameron, who he said was distracted and didn’t keep an eye on Libya.
Ruined nations, abandoned allies, ISIS still growing…
The mess the next President will inherit is so big it’s almost wonder anybody still wants the job.
HUNGER GAMES, AMERICAN STYLE: Sasha and Malia Obama Wore $20K Dresses to the Canada State Dinner. When teenagers wear dresses that cost more than many Americans make, it’s easy to see why Bernie and Donald are getting traction.
ARE “SLIM AND NONE” THE ODDS THIS WILL FIX VA? Department of Veterans Affairs leaders want Congress to let them reclassify dozens of government hospital directors – members of the career civil service’s elite Senior Executive Service – to Title 38 doctors. Doing so would more than double their current salaries that can be as high as $180,000. Yes, you read that right – “more than double their current salaries that can be as high as $180,000.”
These are the same VA hospital directors whose facilities are in many cases hellholes for veterans seeking the medical care they were promised when they put on the nation’s military uniforms. Thousands of veterans have been forced to wait months on end for appointments with doctors and dozens of them died while waiting.
The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group’s Luke Rosiak reports that VA leaders claim the higher salaries are needed to keep the hospital directors from fleeing the government for better-paying positions in the private sector and that changing them from SESers to doctors will make it easier to fire the incompetents. Neither of those claims are true, according to Rosiak. So why is it government’s solutions for its problems so often result in better pay for the bureaucrats?
AS ANOTHER COMPANY MOVES AWAY, JERRY BROWN OFFICIALDOM INSISTS HIGH TAXES, MORE REGULATIONS, AND UNION CONTROL CAUSE GROWTH.
Well, it’s probably doing wonders for moving company stock:

Plus from the above link, an exit question: “They can argue high taxes, regulation, and unionization are good for the economy. But if you were an Ohio farm boy today with $300 in your pocket, would you try to make your fortune in California or, say, Tennessee?”
NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON goes anti-Anti-Trump. “People who are anti-Trump are actually anti-Trump supporters — they oppose free citizens voting for the @realDonaldTrump.”
REFUGEE CRISIS: Der Spiegel: How Merkel Has Gambled Away Her EU Power. “With her refugee policies, Chancellor Merkel has isolated Germany to a greater degree than any of her predecessors. The Balkan Route has been closed down against her will and many EU leaders believe her overtures to Turkey are delusional. . . . But what Merkel’s people describe as rectitude, the rest of Europe sees as an attempt to spread the costs of her noble-minded blunder across the entire European Union. The fences that have now been built do not just prevent refugees from moving through the Continent — they’re also symbolic of resistance to German presumption.”
UNDER HER PLAN, ELECTRICITY RATES WILL NECESSARILY SKYROCKET. Hillary: ‘We’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.’ As you can see in the video at link, as one Twitter user notes, “The worst part is how she smiles about it.”
In January of 2008, Barack Obama’s ideology, a toxic blend of environmental correctness, punitive leftism and crony socialism caused his mouth to infamously form the words, “If somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can — it’s just that it will bankrupt them…Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”
He said that while speaking to the editors of the San Francisco Chronicle. Because the editors at the Chronicle were either (a) in the tank for Obama, (b) agreed with the idea, or (c) too stupid to realize what a front-page scoop they’ve been handed or (d) likely all of the above, Obama’s statement was hiding in plain sight within an hour-long video of his interview that the newspaper uploaded to their page at the Brightcove video distribution platform until an enterprising blogger found it and cut a brief clip highlighting his promise, and it went viral in the late days of the 2008 campaign, too late to influence the election. But it certainly made for a double-whammy when combined with future “Energy” Secretary Steven Chu’s Kinsley-esque gaffe when speaking to the Wall Street Journal in September of 2008 that the administration was also seeking “to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,” which also flew under the radar as the financial meltdown* dominated headlines that month.
But voters have no excuse this time — Hillary is openly stating, early in the election cycle, that she plans to destroy industries and put people on the unemployment line. (Which is an updated and targeted version of her promise in 2004 that “We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”) If you vote for her and your electrical bill increases, or you’re in an industry’s she’s targeting for destruction and out of work, well — she warned you herself what was coming.
* Itself a late-arriving hangover from the Bill Clinton era.
