STEPHEN GREEN WAS A TEETOTALER BEFORE HE STARTED COLLECTING THESE NEWS:  Fact! News You Can Use.

IN THE WORDS OF ANDREW BREITBART, “STOP RAPING PEOPLE!” Obama Communication Director Accused of Sexual Assault. “Trevor FitzGibbon was Obama’s Communications Director in New Mexico on his original campaign. And that made him left-wing royalty. His PR firm, FitzGibbon Media, represented major left-wing organizations from MoveOn.org to Planned Parenthood, from Color of Change to Everytown. . . . FitzGibbon Media clients included branches of the ACLU, the Bradley Manning Defense Fund, Common Cause, AFL-CIO, DailyKos, American Federal of Teachers, Correct the Record, the Ford Foundation, Brave New Films, Global Zero, Islamic Relief, Planned Parenthood, the Julian Assange Defense Fund, Google, Rock the Vote, the Intercept, Wikileaks, Wikipedia, the Nation and VDay, Eve Ensler’s movement which claims to fight rape. It didn’t seem to bother Eve Ensler that Trevor FitzGibbon was also representing Julian Assange, a progressive rapist. And his latest antics likely won’t bother her either. But while FitzGibbon Media claimed to be so very feminist and progressive, life was hell for the women who worked there.”

Why are lefty organizations such hotbeds of sexual abuse?

HEADLINES FROM THE AGE OF TRUMP:

As the Insta-professor noted back in August, “Trump indicts America’s ruling class — His rise is a symptom of an increasingly isolated and tyrannical elite.”

And you don’t even need to watch cable TV news to know it.

IN KNOXVILLE, A HERO: Teen dies shielding trio from gunfire. “Fulton High School sophomore Zaevion Dobson’s death while shielding three girls from random gunfire during a gang shooting was just the kind of selfless act Principal Rob Speas expected from his student. . . . Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch choked back tears Friday at a news conference when he described how Dobson, 15, acted as a human shield to save three girls from a fusillade of bullets fired by three men. About a dozen people were in the area when the shooting began about 10:12 p.m. Thursday.” It was a gang shooting, apparently.

MOE LANE:

There are two things to take away from this. The first is, of course, that there’s really no reason to not believe both sides. The Sanders campaign could very well have improperly grabbed Hillary Clinton’s information, and the DNC could be leaping at any excuse to rid themselves of this meddlesome candidate. There doesn’t actually need to be any good guys in this scrum; indeed, the Democratic Establishment (which definitely includes Bernie Sanders, despite his protestations) might feel confused if there were.

But the second thing to take away from it? None of this will matter in tomorrow’s debate. Bernie Sanders can have the campaign accuse the DNC of being in the tank for Clinton all he likes; and Sanders probably likes doing that a good deal. But there’s no way that Bernie Sanders will look Hillary Clinton in the eye and say You are standing by and doing nothing while your lickspittle sycophants and toadies are busily abusing their positions. This entire process is a farce, and you are a coward and a weakling for enabling it. Bernie Sanders will never, ever say that to Hillary Clinton, despite the fact that he so obviously is thinking it, for a very simple reason: Bernie Sanders is afraid of what Hillary Clinton will do to him afterward.

So… expect fireworks tonight, and cowardice at tomorrow’s debate. Because Bernie Sanders isn’t in it to win it. He’s in it to keep the whole thing from smelling too bad. Simple enough.

What about it, Bernie?

THE GOLDEN STATE, ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF PROGRESS: California’s New Rules Prohibit Driverless Cars. “The most surprising aspect of this law is the requirement of a licensed, autonomous-certified driver in the vehicle at all times.”

SO THAT WENT WELL:

FORMER DEFENSE SECRETARY CHUCK HAGEL ACCUSES OBAMA WHITE HOUSE OF TRYING ‘TO DESTROY ME’ AFTER HE WAS FORCED OUT OF OFFICE: Gee, there’s a shock – considering Obama’s entire career as president is built around his fighting midwestern Republicans far more tenaciously than ISIS or al Qaeda. And Hagel should have known that when he got in bed with Obama’s administration in the first place.

But as Ed Morrissey writes, Hagel’s accusation isn’t an isolated one; it highlights a much larger pattern for Barry:

So far, he has had four Secretaries of Defense — Robert Gates, Leon Panetta, Hagel, and the current SecDef, Ash Carter. All three who have departed Obama’s administration have leveled serious criticisms of the way in which security and military issues have been handled. Hagel’s allegations are the most serious of them all, but fits the pattern suggested by the memoirs of his predecessors.

Hagel sealed his fate when he refused to go along with the White House’s desire to empty Guantanamo Bay. He blocked transfers based on threat assessments from within the Department of Defense, and that angered the White House. In the end, Hagel — who didn’t have a lot of credibility for this position in the first place — found himself isolated and outmatched politically.

Perhaps not for much longer, though. Hagel will certainly produce his own memoirs soon enough, and those may prove even more intriguing than Gates’ or Panetta’s.

No matter what happens in next year’s election, the memoirs to emerge after this staggeringly incompetent administration is over will be loads of fun for political junkies to consume.
