ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST:   Massachusetts is scrapping its Obamacare exchange, following on the heels of Oregon.  I wonder if these decisions have anything to do with the Halbig v. Sebelius case pending in the D.C. Circuit?  If the court in Halbig rules for the plaintiff, neither tax subsidies nor the employer mandate would apply in those States that opt-out of running their own exchanges.  Governors in red states would likely applaud this result, but Governors in blue states like Oregon and Massachusetts would not.  It’s just a thought.

The mid-term elections are still six months away, but the political landscape for Democrats is perilous. And the odds are as good or better that things will get worse, not better, for Democrats between now and November.

The American public, at least at this point, seem intent on deliver a stinging rebuke to President Obama, his party, and liberalism itself. The left, knowing this, is going to become even more desperate, more ad hominem, and more deranged in their attacks.

It won’t alter the outcome. We are watching the Obama presidency die. The cause of death? Massive incompetence. Flawed ideology. And the Obama agenda coming into contact with reality.

As Richard Fernandez wrote at the Belmont Club on Saturday regarding the Obama administration’s hopeless foreign policy, “There’s a saying that it isn’t over till the Fat Lady sings. She hasn’t quite sung yet, but she is certainly warming up her tonsils.”

The correspondent’s dinner was a thoroughly medieval spectacle. Never was a lord’s hall so earnestly thronged by grateful peasants as that venue. The comparison was nearly exact since it featured jesters, court ladies and the obligatory men-at-arms hovering outside the drawbridge of the castle. Royalty was of course in attendance, resplendent in its dazzling gowns and chic elegance. The designated buffoon of the evening was Kathleen Sebelius who was employed as a sight-gag as an obligatory adjunct to something broken as if she could absorb for herself the sins of the King.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner seems to be moving backwards in time. This year, it’s being described as a “medieval spectacle”; last year, Tom Brokaw (of all people) was comparing it to Versailles. Stone Age or bust next year?
