WAS FLIPPER A SWINGER?:   The famous TV dolphin apparently had a secret life.  This Vanity Fair story reveals the secrets of dolphin “superpods”– namely, that they are non-stop orgies:

As for the fabled orgy, it turns out that dolphins are one of the most promiscuous animals on the planet. They don’t mate just for reproduction. They enjoy sex. It’s a social binder for them, like a handshake. On a good day a dolphin can have sex 50 times. Dolphins do it with everyone . . . old, young, big, small, even family members. Homosexual behavior is common, as is masturbation; dolphins have even been known to make advances at human beings. The dark side of the dolphin—the turd in the superpod—is that sometimes dolphin sex can be violent and nonconsensual. Rape and gang rape happens. We did not see any of that, though. This seemed to be a law-abiding lot.

Now we know why dolphins always look like they’re smiling.

The video is disturbing, if not shocking.

Former Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks is thrown to the ground and a police officer jumps on him. The officer winds up for three powerful punches, although it’s unclear if he actually struck Brooks.

Jennifer Simpson was shocked by the footage her husband filmed outside their Victorville, Calif. apartment., but for different reasons. Although she was the person who posted the video to YouTube, she also thought it was slightly misleading.

From her angle away from her husband, she could clearly see the man kicking and fighting back against the officer, she said.

“In the video it shows the officer like he’s beating him without reason,” Simpson said Friday. “He was trying to kick the officers from him, and he was putting up a pretty good fight, too … I think they (police) were completely justified the way he was fighting.

Simpson thought a few friends might find the video interesting. She had no idea the man arrested was a lawmaker who was expelled from the Nevada Legislature earlier that day, and was being arrested for the third time in a few months.

Brooks was arrested after a police chase by Barstow Police about 7 p.m. Thursday on charges of evading and resisting arrest, throwing objects from his vehicle and harming a police dog.

Brooks is accused of hitting a police dog with a wrench. Officers used a Taser stun gun on Brooks during the arrest.

“Well, now that his political career is over, what’s next, a gig at MSNBC?” blogger JammieWearingFool quips. And note that the Las Vegas Review-Journal article that JWF links to waits until the 17^th paragraph to name Brooks’ party.

POST-BIRTH “ABORTIONS”– AKA INFANTICIDE:   No matter what you think of abortion, you need to be disturbed by this video.  At a recent committee hearing in the Florida legislature to consider a bill that would require health care providers to provide care to an infant that survives an abortion procedure, the spokesperson for Florida Planned Parenthood, Alisa LaPolt Snow, asserted that the decision about such lifesaving care should be left to the decision of the mother.  Watch it yourself:

The White House has confirmed the report was removed on their request. From Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the First Lady:

From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.

While I certainly understand the concerns about security, presumably the Secret Service is accompanying these girls wherever they go.  If these media reports are true and the girls have been to both luxurious and expensive locations during their spring break, this would be legitimately newsworthy at a time when the President has halted White House tours and other basic government functions, supposedly due to sequestration-based budget cuts.  The public deserves to know whether the Obamas are being hypocritical and/or squandering tax dollars during a time of economic austerity.

During a segment of “Fox and Friends,” Rivera waded into the issue of a top aide to Secretary Janet Napolitano taking leave amid charges of sexual harassment and anti-male discrimination.

“I have a question, is this subtext of the Department of Homeland Security scandal — that there is some kind of lesbian cabal, that it’s a same-sex takeover of the big agencies?” Geraldo offered, as the hosts looked at each other and laughed nervously.

“What do you think?” the hosts asked him.

“I don’t know, it seems like everyone is talking around it,” Geraldo said, as he picked up steam. “Is that really what people are saying? That men are disadvantaged because women and specifically lesbians are ruling the roost there?”
