IRONY: Leftist Media Outlet Dying Of Too Much Government. “A leftist NYC radio station is facing a serious problem: too much government. The Times reports on the financial crisis facing WBAI, ‘radio for the 99 percent’ that only reaches ‘0.1 percent of the New York radio audience.’ Struggling with massive losses for years now, the station has just laid off 19 out of its 29 staff members, and it’s fate now largely rests with its owner, the nonprofit Pacifica Foundation. Unfortunately, both Pacifica and WBAI have something of a democracy problem.”

NOBEL PEACE PRIZE UPDATE: Three years later, a flattened Afghan village reflects on U.S. bombardment.

UPDATE: “Smart Diplomacy:” The Associated Press Notices that Obama Is A Failure. “In some cases, the current climate has been driven by factors outside the White House’s control. But missteps by the president also are to blame, say foreign policy analysts, including some who worked for the Obama administration. Among them: miscalculating the fallout from the Arab Spring uprisings, publicly setting unrealistic expectations for improved ties with Russia and a reactive decision-making process that can leave the White House appearing to veer from crisis to crisis without a broader strategy.”

Do tell.

CULTURE OF CORRUPTION: The Hill: ObamaCare’s architects reap windfall as Washington lobbyists. “ObamaCare has become big business for an elite network of Washington lobbyists and consultants who helped shape the law from the inside. More than 30 former administration officials, lawmakers and congressional staffers who worked on the healthcare law have set up shop on K Street since 2010.”

Yet another argument for my revolving-door surtax.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TODD STEED!

ANOTHER TEACHER SEX SCANDAL: “If this were a male they would never get out on $2,000 bond.”

The announcement from the North Central Charter Essential School came a day after Rachelle Gendron, 27, of Fitchburg pleaded not guilty in Worcester Superior Court to charges of rape and enticement of a child.

Gendron was released on $2,000 bail.

“The North Central Charter Essential School’s highest priority is the safety and well-being of our students and we are both shocked and concerned by the allegations against the former employee in question,” said the school’s executive director, Stephanie Davolos.

“Upon first learning of those allegations, we took prompt and appropriate action consistent with the best interests of our students, which included swiftly terminating the individual and fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities investigating this matter,” Davolos said. “Until this matter is resolved, however, we cannot offer further comment.”

Prosecutors said Gendron was 25 and 26 years old when she had sex with the 14-year-old, who is no longer enrolled at the school.

Authorities say they found text messages between the two that included pictures of the teacher “in various states of undress.”

I don’t know if this sort of thing is actually more common, or if we’re just hearing about it more, but I suspect it’s the latter. Just remember — schools have fewer male teachers because people fear that men will be sexual predators. . . .
