A TAX SYSTEM THAT REQUIRES PROFESSIONAL PREPARERS IS A HUMAN-RIGHTS VIOLATION: Do my own taxes? I would not dare!

Tax forms are too complex for members of Congress to fill out on their own, several lawmakers told The Hill.

In fact, when broached with the question, “Do you fill out your own tax forms?” most members burst out laughing before admitting it was just too complicated.

I think members of Congress should be required to do their own taxes . . . .

JAMES TARANTO: From Roe to Gosnell: “Here is incontrovertible proof that Kirsten Powers and Conor Friedersdorf are correct in arguing that the murder trial of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell has received insufficient media coverage: On Friday, Snopes.com was compelled to publish a page confirming that the story is real, not merely an urban legend.”

THE FIRST MARTIANS: They’re us. “So far, almost 40,000 people from all over the world have applied to become Martians. This is many more than I had imagined.”

JUST A REMINDER: Based on past experience, at least half of what you’re hearing about Boston this afternoon will turn out to be wrong by tomorrow. And journalists/pundits: Try not to speculate in the absence of data. You don’t know anything either.

BREAKING: TWO EXPLOSIONS AT BOSTON MARATHON: Updates from Ed Driscoll and Hot Air. Bloomberg TV currently has a live stream on the story.  CBS Boston has the initial video of the explosions.

UPDATE: First reports are always unreliable, but this looks pretty bad.

ANOTHER UPDATE: More from the Boston Herald, whose servers are groaning under the load. “It’s chaos down here. Two bombs just went off at the finish line within five seconds of each other. There must be casualties. Now I’m seeing fire trucks and ambulances racing down Boylston Street toward the scene.”

MORE: Photos, some appalling, at The Atlantic. (Bumped).
