LIB/PROGRESSIVE HYPOCRISY, PART 8,943:  Ah, sweet liberal/progressive hypocrisy!  This time, it manifests itself in the usual way– hurling of the “R” word– at those who deign to question the propriety of spending large chunks of taxpayer dollars for the President’s daughters’ lavish spring break in the Bahamas.  In a piece titled “How Not to Seem Like a Racist:  A tip for right-wingers angry about charges of racial bias: Try treating the Obama daughters with decency,” Joan Walsh at Salon writes:

The theme of most right-wing stories on Sasha, Malia and Michelle Obama’s vacations and leisure-time activities seems to be that they’re entitled princesses, when they do exactly the same kinds of things other presidents’ families have done throughout history. There’s only one difference I can see.

And oh, do liberals/progressives just love to “see” that “difference” in every single thing!  As John Sexton documents at Breitbart, Walsh was more than happy to write much more vile things about President Bush’s daughters.

WE HAVE TO PASS IT FIRST SO WE CAN FIND OUT WHAT’S IN IT:   In yet another Obamacare post-passage surprise, we now now that the 61-page online “free stuff!” Obamacare application contains information to help steer applicants towards voter registration.  Gee, I wonder what liberal/progressive groups might start “helping” folks fill out these applications– and of course “help” them register to vote as well?

UPDATE:  Reader George Scoville asks us to ponder a provocative analogy:  “[I]t is worth asking what sorts of conniptions the left would be having over, say, gun permit applications providing people with voter registration information….”  Indeed!

UNEXPECTEDLY: We had to pass the bill to find out what was in it — and now we know: under the Orwellian named Affordable Care Act, “medical claim costs, the largest driver of health insurance premiums, are expected to increase by 32 percent for individuals, a new study by the Society of Actuaries finds.”

And 2014 is just around the corner

ALMOST ONE MONTH LATER:  And still waiting for the sky to fall . . .  LOL.

BUT NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY, THE MARKET IS GONNA GET YOU: The Invisible Bitch-Slap.

Vox Day has his new kindle book The Wardog’s Coin out today. His book A Magic Broken is also available for free on Amazon for today only.

BUT THAT’S JUST CRAZY TALK: Walter Russel Mead: The more we hear about what was going on in the era of sexual liberation, the more the Catholic  scandals look like a symptom of the times rather than a special pathology of the Church. Go read the whole thing.

ADVICE AND CONSENT–THE CASE AGAINST  THOMAS PEREZ:  Frank Gaffney outlines a compelling case against Senate confirmation of Thomas Perez as Labor Secretary:

Mr. Perez is, in short, the poster child of Team Obama’s notorious practice of putting politics over public safety. Before coming to federal office and during his past four years at the Justice Department, he has promoted the radical left’s agendas and those of its allies in Islamist circles. He has done so at the expense of the rights of all Americans to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness safeguarded from all their enemies, foreign and domestic.

Presidents deserve deference on their choice of appointees.  But there is an important difference between deference and abdication of duty.

CURIOUS WHAT MAKES IT TO THE NEWS: Staring into the eyes of death: Man has a chilling face to face encounter with a mountain lion peering into his rustic home in the Rocky Mountains.  I used to live in this same small mountain town (much closer to the main road) and I can tell you this is not even unusual.  I once took younger boy to kindergarten an hour late because there was a baby bear on the front porch and I assumed mom was nearby.  I finally solved the problem by opening the window a crack and singing, which made the bear run away.  For years after, my son bragged to anyone who’d listen that “mom’s singing scares bears!”

POLYGAMY VS. SAME-SEX MARRIAGE:  Justice Sotomayor asked an interesting question during the Supreme Court’s oral arguments on the constitutionality of California’s Prop 8:  If government cannot discriminate against homosexuals who want to marry, can it also discriminate against hetero- or homosexuals who wish to marry more than one person?  Or first cousins (or other relatives) who wish to marry?  Ted Olson’s answer was not entirely satisfactory, suggesting that a ban on polygamy or incest would be a ban on “conduct,” not one based on “status.”

DR. BEN CARSON STRIKES BACK:  Dr. Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon and outspoken opponent of Obamacare, has been skewered by liberals/progressives as an “Oreo,” “Uncle Tom” and various other disgusting labels.  He bravely responds to these idiotic (but all too common) attacks on Fox News: Dr. Benjamin Carson on Accusations of ‘Tokenism’ by MSNBC’s Touré & others: I’m Not An ‘Uncle Tom’
