ROLL CALL: Inside the NRSC’s Comeback Strategy. The goal is to avoid “Todd Akin moments.”

Okay, but just remember that the three biggest new GOP stars in the Senate — Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz — got there over the opposition of the establishment.

SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT TO ME: Credit rating agencies shrug off sequester, say more cuts needed. “Credit rating agencies are shrugging off sequestration, saying the U.S. government will need to do more to reduce the deficit if it wants to prevent a downgrade of the nation’s credit rating.”

I recommend a 5% across the board year-over-year cut.

BYRON YORK: Jeb Bush immigration flip could upend amnesty debate.

Bush, who would be a leading contender for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination if he chooses to run, is generally regarded within the GOP as liberalizing voice on the issue of immigration. A longtime supporter of comprehensive immigration reform, Bush has in the past supported a path to citizenship for the 11 million immigrants currently in the country illegally.

But now, in a new book, Immigration Wars, Bush proposes a plan under which those 11 million — or at least the ones who came to the United States illegally as adults — could gain legal status but would never be eligible for American citizenship. The only way for them to find a path to citizenship would be to leave the United States, return to their native country and wait for a chance to come to the U.S. legally.

Hmm.

NEWS YOU CAN SNOOZE: Hit the gym or toss & turn: Sleep quality tied by ‘compelling association’ to exercise levels: U.S. experts.

Though length of slumber appeared unaffected by physical endeavours — both groups averaged six hours and 51 minutes on a weeknight – the quality of sleep proved vastly different. People who engaged in light, moderate or vigorous exercise reported consistently enjoying a good night’s sleep at a rate of between 56 and 67%, while sedentary participants’ rate was 39%.

Hirshkowitz cautioned, however, that “cause and effect can be tricky.” Though he suspects the good health fostered by exercise leads to improved sleep, it’s also possible that poor sleep makes people less inclined to exercise.

Always a question. But if you’re having trouble sleeping, give it a try. Just don’t work out too close to bedtime.

JEEZ, COULD YOU GROVEL ANY MORE? It’s funny how sometimes its edgy to be offensive to religious people, and sometimes it’s unforgivable to be offensive to religious people.

CALIFORNIA’S REVERSE-JOADS: “Low- and middle-income residents are fleeing the state. Sacramento’s liberal policies may bear much of the blame.”
