JERRY BOWYER: How The Bowyer Family Played The College Tuition Bubble. “At age 27, Chris has no consumer debt, no school debt (obviously), no car debt and only a small mortgage. He has a small retirement account which he started with the proceeds from a web site he built in his teen years. He and his wife are homeowners. While some of their college friends are apartment dwellers, many are boomerang kids who have returned home to live with their parents. Almost none of the ones who are employed are employed in their chosen field of study. Income-wise, Chris is at about the same level as the subset of his college-grad friends who are employed. Asset/liability wise he is well ahead of the pack.”

WISCONSIN: Whatever happened to those robocalls telling people who’d signed the Walker recall petitions they didn’t have to vote in the recall election? “Since the reports were made in a manner and at a time when it served the interests of Walker opponents, I always suspected Walker opponents of either faking the reports or generating the calls to cause the reports. I’m even more suspicious now that the subject has been dropped. If the calls were real and really made by Walker supporters, the opponents who claimed they got the calls or claimed they heard complaints about the calls would have an interest now in laying out the evidence. The silence is telling.”

It was battlespace preparation, intended to provide shouting points in the event of a close enough election to spur a recount. Since it wasn’t close, the shouting points weren’t needed and the whole thing became inoperative.

THE COUNTRY’S IN THE VERY BEST OF HANDS: Report: Commerce chief investigated for hit-and-run accidents. “Commerce Secretary John Bryson is being investigated by law enforcement officials for allegedly causing two traffic accidents over the weekend, one of which left him injured. A police spokesman from the San Gabriel Police Department said Bryson was cited for a felony hit-and-run after the two incidents on Saturday in California, CNN reported.”
