CLIMATEGATE UPDATE: What was going on with the East Anglia coverup. “’We don’t know which data belongs to which station, correct?’. That’s staggering, it’s gotta be in the running for some kind of truth in advertising award. Shame he wasn’t that honest with me. Instead, he worked hard to obscure that fact. . . . My conclusion after all this time is that Phil truly didn’t get it. He actually didn’t understand. He was not the owner of private data. He was the curator of public data. He didn’t understand that FOI requests are legal documents. Throughout the whole episode he treated them as some kind of optional request to grant or not as he saw fit. In this he was aided and abetted by David Palmer. . . . The saddest part is that the new revelations of the unthinking, off-hand venality of these main scientists of the AGW movement have lost their power to shock. That is a tragedy for climate science in particular and for science in general.”
PUNCHING BACK TWICE AS HARD: Tea Party Activists Challenge ‘Occupy Black Friday’ With ‘BUYcott Black Friday.’
JEFF CARTER: Death Spiral In Euroland. “Europe has hit the point of no return I am afraid. Debt ratings in some countries went to junk yesterday. Italy paid record highs in their latest auction. Tell me, how is Italy not junk?”
UPDATE: Michael Barone: “What I take from this is that one thing we should be thankful for on this Thanksgiving is that we are not in the Eurozone. Our British cousins, though they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving over there, have reason to be thankful to former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who as Chancellor of the Exchequer kept Britain out of the zero. Tony Blair seemed to want to go in, but he effectively ceded control of economic and financial policy to Brown, and Brown put out a list of conditions that had to be fulfilled before Britain would ditch the Pound and go into the Euro. Reading the conditions at the time, I came to the conclusion that they never could be fulfilled, and in any case they weren’t. Brown’s reputation is not very high now–Blair’s memoir paints him as almost pathological–but his nation owes him some thanks.”

Plus, from the comments: “To predict the failure of the Euro was easy peasy: all that was needed was a slight familiarity with economics and the human race. To predict what comes next is much, much harder.” Yes.

REPORT: Smart Meters Wreaking Havoc With Home Electronics. “”About 200 customers of the Central Maine Power Company recently noticed something odd after the utility installed smart meters in their homes: household electronics, including wireless devices, stopped working, or behaved erratically. Many Smart Meters broadcast in the 2.4GHz frequency range. Unfortunately, so do many of the consumer gadgets we take for granted these days including routers, electric garage doors, fire alarms, clocks, electric pet fences, answering machines, and baby monitors — even medical devices.”
ASTROTURF: “Montana Hunters and Anglers appears to be defending against an overreaching federal ‘land grab’ bill now before Congress. It’s the National Security and Federal Lands Protection Act. H.R. 1505. What MHA is really about is unseating Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg, Montana’s at-large representative.”
