UPDATE: Conservative Lesbian Cynthia Yockey sends this cellphone pic from the Bel Air, MD tea party. Great pic — I wonder what kind of cellphone this is?
ANOTHER UPDATE: Cynthia emails that it’s a Samsung Flipshot, with a 3MP camera. Nice pic.
COMMERCIAL SPACE FEDERATION praises Obama’s new space policy. I think they’re right. I’ve surprised a couple of talk-radio hosts recently by supporting that policy, but — while I’m not sure Obama shares my enthusiasm for space development, really — it’s basically the policy that I and many other space activists have been calling for for nearly 20 years.
TUNKU VARADARAJAN: At Last, The Truth About Tea Partiers. “A new poll has forced The New York Times and liberal elites to admit Tea Partiers aren’t nuts—but rather passionate, educated, serious, and relatively prosperous.” Old spin — they were dumb ignorant hillbillies. Predicted new spin: Just a bunch of overeducated fatcats!
MEGAN MCARDLE: “Michael Berube’s response to my writing about the lack of conservatives in the cultural elite is, perhaps unsurprisingly, just a tad overwrought, and not very responsive. Frankly, I sort of wondered if he didn’t outsource it to an undergraduate.”
HERE IN CINCINNATI, Helen and I have been interviewing people for PJTV. It’s surprising how many folks we encounter are viewers already.
Meanwhile, Sean Hannity — who was supposed to do his show from here live — has had to go back to New York on some sort of personal emergency, but the folks here, though disappointed, still seem full of energy.
Here’s the empty Fox set, now being taken down. PJTV is still on the job, though! And there’ll be lots more Tea Party coverage at PJTV.com.
UPDATE: Here’s the backstory, sent by reader J.R. Ott who offers some unprintable comments about the executives at Fox.
ANOTHER UPDATE: The Cincinnati Tea Party folks tell me that they had no deal with Hannity — he had a deal with the University of Cincinnati, and they had a deal with the University of Cincinnati, but there was no deal between them.
IF ONLY WOMEN died on the job as much as men.
READER MASON IBAS SENDS THIS PIC FROM TUCSON and writes: “What a well behaved bunch of people. Just lots of conversation about the issues of the day. I’m a sports photographer and thought I’d stop by and check the ‘racist mob,’ what a let down.”
UPDATE: Reader Mike McAlpine writes from Denver: “I thought you might like some photos from sunny Denver. We had a good turnout with thousands showing up in the middle of a work day. A great crowd with lots of Gadsden flags. I think the number of Gadsden flags means more and more people are identifying with the Tea Party.”
