“ANGRY-MOB UNPOPULAR:” 53% Remain Opposed to Health Care Plan. “The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% favor the plan while 53% are opposed. These figures include just 20% who Strongly Favor the plan and 41% who are Strongly Opposed.”

HOTLINE: “Dems are aiming to pass health care legislation, once and for all, by Easter recess. But for all their optimistic talk, one thing remains clear: They don’t have the votes just yet. Then again, they don’t have a bill yet, either.”

HMM: Condo resale pricing takes a dive. “The January resale report by the Florida Realtors group showed that the median price for condo sales in Palm Beach County dropped below $100,000 for the first time since 2006 _ when records on condos were first separately recorded from single-family homes. The median price was $93,700 in Palm Beach County, down 14 percent from January 2009.” No recovery there.

STANLEY FISH: Miss him yet?

What I told you back on Sept. 28, 2008, was that within a year of the day he left office George W. Bush would come to be regarded with affection and a little nostalgia. The responses (over 300 before the comments were closed) to that prediction were overwhelmingly negative; even the very few who agreed with me attributed what they took to be a sad fact to the stupidity of the American people. The other 290 or so said things like “No way”; “Are you kidding?”; ”Are you mad?”;“What a ridiculous and insulting premise!”; “I’ll miss him like a rash”; “This must be a satire”; “Bush is a sociopath”; “George Bush has destroyed this country”; “History won’t forgive him”; and (a popular favorite) “I hate the man.”

Well it’s a bit more than a year now and signs of Bush’s rehabilitation are beginning to pop up.

Thank Barack Obama. Some people already have.

AT CATO, a question for the President: “The rationale for your proposed tax on high-cost health insurance plans is that it would encourage people to purchase less-comprehensive coverage and thereby reduce health care spending. If that’s a good idea, then why is it bad when insurers raise premiums?”

WELL, THIS LOOKS CHEERY:

HOW’S THAT “SMART DIPLOMACY” WORKING OUT? POLL: U.S. LESS RESPECTED IN THE WORLD. “A majority of Americans say the United States is less respected in the world than it was two years ago and think President Obama and other Democrats fall short of Republicans on the issue of national security, a new poll finds. The Democracy Corps-Third Way survey released Monday finds that by a 10-point margin — 51 percent to 41 percent — Americans think the standing of the U.S. dropped during the first 13 months of Mr. Obama’s presidency.”

A BLOG REPORT FROM OBAMA’S HEALTHCARE SHINDIG IN PHILADELPHIA: “I must say that in person, Obama looks more like Fred Armisen than you would think. Here is Kelly’s picture of the SEIU people directly in front of the President. The group was in a roped off area and they weren’t all dressed in purple but they broke out in a chant together while we were waiting for the arrival of Obama. This was the only group that was able to shake hands with Obama at the conclusion as well.”

GRATEFUL TO OBAMA:

I’m making a list of Things I Like About Obama:

1. By continuing to fight the wars that George Bush started, he has crushed the hope of the people who bought into the campaign abstraction “hope.”

2. By putting his name on many of the policies that George Bush was condemned for adopting, he has rehabilitated the reputation of George Bush .
