BROWN RESIGNS, CAMERON’S IN as Prime Minister.

YOU CAN GET ME FOR LESS THAN NEIL GAIMAN, but probably more than I’m worth. Which makes sense, when you read his explanation. . . . .

TAKING OBAMACARE CHALLENGES SERIOUSLY.

HANGOVER CAUSE FOUND: “Scientists have discovered the molecule in the brain that leads to hangovers. The neuropeptide, a brain-signalling molecule, is believed to cause the body to experience withdrawal symptoms as the brain tries to adapt to different intoxication levels.” Next, a hangover-molecule blocker? I would say “faster, please,” but I can’t remember the last time I was hung over.

AN ANTIVENOM CRISIS? “Wyeth kept up production of coral snake antivenom for almost 40 years. But given the rarity of coral snake bites, it was hardly a profit center, and the company shut down the factory that made the antivenom in 2003. Wyeth worked with the FDA to produce a five-year supply of the medicine to provide a stopgap while other options were pursued. After that period, the FDA extended the expiration date on existing stock from 2008 to 2009, and then again from 2009 to 2010. But as of press time, no new manufacturer has stepped forward.”

SHORT-SELLERS IN CONGRESS: Another lesson in financial hypocrisy. “We elected our officials to solve our nation’s problems, the foremost of which is the weak economy. They asked us to give them these responsibilities so that they could exercise their leadership and judgment. In the course of their workday, they meet with government officials, captains of industry, and foreign leaders. When these same elected officials phone their Wall Street brokers and take a financial position against the very entity which they are charged with preserving and protecting — the United States — how could it be anything other than a breach of the public trust?”

TOWARD A HYDROGEN ECONOMY? Clues From Nature.

MOJAVE VETERANS’ MEMORIAL desecrated.

KAGAN RECUSALS: “Kagan should be very clear about what sorts of cases and what issues she believes she will be recused from. This is critical not only in determining her ethical posture but also in figuring out whether Democrats will be ‘down a vote’ for some period of time. Is she going to opine on the constitutionality of ObamaCare? On Guantanomo cases? On this, the Senate should insist on clear and definitive answers. After all, it goes directly to her ability to perform the job for which she has been nominated.”

PETER SUDERMAN: “In March, credit-rating agency Moody’s warned that America’s top-notch credit rating could be at risk. Thanks to the country’s increasingly precarious fiscal situation, ‘their ‘distance-to-downgrade’ has in all cases substantially diminished.'” Obviously, the solution is to bully them into changing their assessment!
