MILBLOGGERS ON MEN’S JOURNAL: It’s not about the cologne.

HOPE, BUT NO CHANGE: “Many people, myself included, hoped that Barack Obama’s popularity abroad would enable the administration to get increased cooperation from our allies, thereby making key US foreign policy objectives easier to achieve. These hopes took a major blow recently when European NATO allies rejected the Administration’s call to send more troops to Afghanistan.”

GREG MANKIW ON OBAMA’S PROMISES TO “CREATE OR SAVE” JOBS. “The expression ‘create or save,’ which has been used regularly by the President and his economic team, is an act of political genius. You can measure how many jobs are created between two points in time. But there is no way to measure how many jobs are saved. Even if things get much, much worse, the President can say that there would have been 4 million fewer jobs without the stimulus.” Unfalsifiable promises! A new kind of politics!

SHOW THEM YOU CARE ABOUT THE PLANET with this eco-friendly stroller / bassinet made with soybeans! And, in case they don’t get the message clearly enough, while you push it you can sip from your paper water bottle. Because showing you care is even more important than caring!

Okay, it looks like a perfectly fine — if rather pricey — stroller. But the descriptions are a bit poseurish.

COMMON GROUND between libertarians and conservatives? Here’s a list of potential issues, which will be narrowed down by voting next week.

Meanwhile, there’s a Facebook discussion page, or you can email with ideas and comments.

VACLAV KLAUS AGAIN: Czech President Compares EU to Soviet Union. “The European Union has turned into an undemocratic and elitist project comparable to the Communist dictatorships of eastern Europe that forbade alternative thinking, Czech President Vaclav Klaus told the European Parliament on Thursday.”

AIRBRUSHING IN THE EAST VALLEY TRIBUNE? So I linked to a story on high school students skeptical about Obama’s stimulus speech. Now the story has the same headline, but the quotes are missing, replaced by a bunch of feelgood talk about how excited everyone was to have Obama in town. But you can find the original story here. And here’s the Google Cache. Some difference, huh? I emailed the reporter, Hayley Ringle, to ask what happened. (Bumped).

UPDATE: The Google Cache now shows the new story. No response to my email yet. I saved screenshots, though, and of course there’s the Drudge capture.

ANOTHER UPDATE: The original story has been restored. They’re blaming a technical error.
