ANOTHER GUN-LICENSE “I told you so,” from Michael Silence.

WHY “GO JOHN GALT” when you can just “go Tim Geithner?” “Somehow, according to Mr Taylor, it’s just plain wrong for people who advocate lower tax rates to try to find legal methods to avoid higher taxes, but there’s nothing particularly noteworthy about people who advocate higher taxes, for the good of the country, don’t you know, illegally failing to pay all of their taxes.”

HMM: Dodd Undecided About 2010:

Dautrich said allegations concerning a 2003 mortgage from now the defunct Countrywide Financial are alienating him from moderate voters. Dodd allegedly received a “sweetheart” deal on the mortgage with VIP service and a below market rate because of his position as Chairman of the Senate Banking and Finance Committee.

Although Dodd released hundreds of documents to the press last month as well as an audit reported purportedly clearing him of error, the same Quinnipiac poll showed most Connecticut residents are still concerned by his involvement.

Bysciewicz said that while she does not know for certain if Dodd would seek reelection, she encouraged him to make up his mind soon, and announce his intentions.

Hmm, again.

NEVER WASTE A GOOD CRISIS: “What if George Bush or Dick Cheney had said something like that openly? It’s the kind of line that people used to imagine Bush people saying in secret.”

BLOOMBERG IS CALLING IT the “Obama Bear Market.”

UPDATE: Key quote: “It speaks to the carnage that’s in the economy and the lack of confidence in the measures that have been announced.”

POLITICO: House Turns Back Call for Murtha Probe:

The House on Thursday night turned back another call to investigate the PMA Group, a once-powerful lobbying firm whose offices were recently raided by the FBI and which has close ties to Pennsylvania Rep. John P. Murtha (D). . . . PMA is under investigation for allegedly making improper “straw man” donations to lawmakers. Murtha, who chairs the subcommittee that doles out defense spending, has had close ties to members of the lobbying firm.

I don’t think this issue will go away that easily, though.

TAKING ON OBAMA: Good for business? “By one measure, Rush Limbaugh is a clear winner this week: His ratings have nearly doubled since his feud with the White House burst into the media limelight.” I’ll bet Cramer and Santelli have seen big ratings jumps, too. But will Limbaugh try the chicken-suit thing?

UPDATE: Opening a second media front.
