MICKEY KAUS: “Just asking: What do the Democrats do when Obama loses Pennsylvania, not by 10 or 15 points but by 20 or 25 points? That seems to be the way things are headed.” Plus, more Obama denials, and video.

THOUGHTS ON THE BEAR STEARNS COLLAPSE, from Megan McArdle: “As others have already pointed out, this is, from the point of view of the shareholders, just barely better than bankruptcy. Talk of a bailout of the bank is silly–this wasn’t a bailout; it was an orderly winding-up of business.” At least that addresses the moral hazard problem. . . .

TAKING DOWN the gangs of Iraq. As noted here repeatedly in the past, corruption is a bigger problem than the insurgency, really.

THINGS ARE GETTING SERIOUS: “Protests spread from Tibet into three neighboring provinces Sunday as Tibetans defied a Chinese government crackdown, while the Dalai Lama decried what he called the “cultural genocide” taking place in his homeland. Demonstrations widened to Tibetan communities in Sichuan, Qinghai and Gansu provinces, forcing authorities to mobilize security forces across a broad expanse of western China.”

THOUGHTS ON THREE-WAYS, from Little Miss Attila. “How much time did I spend, in my twenties, trying to get it out of my boyfriend why it wasn’t gay for us both to hop into bed with another woman, but it would be if we got into bed with another guy?” This produces insight on the McGreevey affair . . . .

UPDATE: Still more, plus another round of Name That Party! “For the record- neither NewJersey.com or the AP reveal that former Governor McGreevey is a Democrat.”

OINK, OINK! “Who says bipartisanship is dead? Democrats and Republicans joined hands last week and demonstrated yet again that they are always happy to pig out at taxpayers’ expense.”
