SLURPEES: Reader Henry Webb writes:

Glenn, this may be petty, but after all of the ridicule Obama got during the 2010 election for his inane “Republicans drinking Slurpees” monologue, wouldn’t you think that the White House media relations people would try to avoid photos of Obama drinking – what else? – Slurpees? (I suppose technically that may be a Snow-Cone or some other ice + colored syrup derivative, but I can’t be the only person who, upon viewing that photo, thought “Wow, Obama drinking a Slurpee. How dumb.”

Heh.

UPDATE: A reader emails: “He’s drinking a Shave Ice in the picture, but it is reminiscent of a Slurpee. But Slurpees are better. A Shave Ice is a common treat in Hawaii.”

ANOTHER UPDATE: Reader Brian Hoskins writes: “I lived in Hawaii a total of 13 and a half years, leaving last December. There is no, I repeat NO relationship between a Slurpee and a shave ice.”

MORE: Reader Dave Converse writes: “In response to Brian Hoskins comment about no connection between shave ice and slurpees: There is now.” Heh.
